General Eligibility Requirements

• An applicant must have completed all formal requirements for professional and post-professional training (e.g. internships or residencies) at the doctoral level (e.g. Ph.D., M.D., J.D., Dr.PH, Sc.D) by the date of entry into the Program.
  
  
• Must have doctoral level degree from one of a variety of disciplines such as economics, epidemiology, political science, public health, public policy, medicine, psychology, sociology, nutrition, anthropology, law, etc. The applicant need not have engaged in previous work in health disparities, or produced a health-oriented dissertation.
  
  
• Must have demonstrated potential for permanent appointment within a health professional school or potential for advancement in a health policy leadership role.
  
  
• Applications are welcome from junior faculty.
  
  
• Underrepresented groups, including ethnic minorities and women, are encouraged to apply.
  
  
• Must be a U.S. citizen or US permanent resident.
  
  
• Must have demonstrated quantitative and/or qualitative research training and skills.
  
  
• Must be highly regarded as a professional by those responsible for his/her education and training.
  
  
• In addition to these general eligibility criteria, a selected applicant:
  
  
  • must be willing to relocate to the training site that he/she receives an offer from since the Kellogg Health Scholars Program is a two-year, full-time fellowship; and
    
    
  • may NOT hold other employment or training fellowships or be enrolled full-time in another degree program during their tenure as a Kellogg Health Scholar.

Specific Community Track Eligibility Requirements

Competencies
In addition to the general eligibility criteria, it is expected that scholars entering the Community Track will have attained some level of expertise in at least some of the Community Track Program Competencies. The intent of the Community Track is to ensure that all Scholars have achieved competency in each stated area and that competencies in all areas have been attained or increased during the course of the Program.
